Watch a service you rely on
When your host, payment provider or AI service has an outage, you are alerted from its status page, so you know at once that the problem is not on your side.
What it checks
Formats read
Atlassian Statuspage, incident.io, Datadog, Google Cloud (Gemini and Vertex AI), RSS and Atom feeds, and any other page by its wording, such as “All systems operational”.
Overall status or one component
Leave Component empty to follow the whole service. Name one, such as API, to be alerted only when that part is affected.
Incidents
Ongoing incidents set the status and their title is shown. In a feed, an entry from the last 24 hours that does not say resolved counts as ongoing.
A ready-made list
17 popular services are one click away on the website and on the Mac: Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, GitHub, Cloudflare, Vercel, Shopify, Slack and more.
What each status means
- UpThe service reports that everything works.
- Slow or degradedDegraded performance or a partial outage.
- DownA major outage or an ongoing incident. If the status page itself cannot be read, the status is unknown and no alert is sent.
Add one, step by step
- 1
Pick from the list, or paste an address
On the website, Add monitor shows the ready-made services: one click adds one. For any other service, choose Status page and paste the address of its status page.
- 2
Let the format be found
Your Mac tries the known formats, then a feed linked from the page, then the page’s wording. Addresses starting with status. are recognized when you paste them on the Mac.
- 3
Narrow it to one component (optional)
Type the component’s name exactly as the status page shows it, for example API or Dashboard. Case does not matter.
- 4
Save
Status pages are checked every 5 minutes by default: providers update them slowly.
Every setting
The same settings appear in the Mac app and on the website. You can change them later, from either side.
- Address
- The status page, for example https://www.githubstatus.com.
- Component (optional)
- One component to follow. If it is not on the page, the status is unknown. On pages without components, incidents whose title names it are followed.
- Check
- 5 minutes by default.
- Name, Group, Tags, Notes
- Ready-made services are grouped together under “Services you rely on” on the website.
Tips
- Add the status pages of everything your site depends on: host, CDN, email, payments. When your site goes down at the same time, you know where to look.
- AI services from the list do not count toward your plan’s monitor limit.
- Follow one component when a provider lists many regions or products you do not use.
Questions
My provider is not in the list.
Paste its status page address: most use one of the supported formats. Otherwise the page’s wording is read.
Why “unknown”?
The page could not be read, or the component you named was not found on it. Check the exact name on the status page.
Add a status page
Your Mac starts checking it within minutes. You can change every setting later.
